The United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) is a global leader in the fight against illicit drugs and international crime, including terrorism. It is a leading provider of specialized assistance to Governments for addressing the legal, criminal justice, and rule of law aspects of counter-narcotics, crime prevention, and counter-terrorism. It operates in all regions of the world through an extensive network of field offices.
The UNODC Programme Office in Indonesia seeks to recruit a National Programme Officer (NPO) for Terrorism Prevention, who will support the implementation of related UNODC activities in Indonesia. These activities include a range of counter-terrorism subject-matter, including, support to parole and probation officers, building a network of counter-terrorism officials and criminal justice practitioners, as well as supporting authorities to address the phenomenon of children associated the violent extremist groups.
Under the overall guidance of the UNODC Regional Representative for Southeast Asia and the Pacific, based in Bangkok, the incumbent will perform his/her duty under the direct supervision of the Terrorism Prevention Officer, as his/her first reporting officer, and the guidance of the UNODC Country Manager, as his/her second reporting officer. The National Programme Officer (NPO) will be responsible for ensuring the consistent implementation of terrorism prevention activities in Indonesia. The National Programme Officer (NPO) will also receive and act on requests for assistance from regional/global UNODC initiatives having activities in Indonesia and/or elsewhere in the region.
