ADRA is an international Non-Government Organization whose mission is to change one life at a time through enhancing development in individuals and communities. ADRA is looking for a qualified candidate to fill the position of Project Engineer in its Qansadere office.


The role of Project Engineer is to:

  • Supervise the implementation of the water infrastructure works.
  • Plan and organize implementation of the water engineering works in close collaboration with communities, other partners, project staff.
  • Monitor and evaluate infrastructure works.
  • Prepare operational plans and project narrative reports on a timely basis in collaboration with the project manager.
  • Establish and maintain a user-friendly ADRA Somalia water sector database with current information and data of rehabilitated water point sources.

  • Participate in project planning with project staff and advise on effective and sustainable management, operations and maintenance of rehabilitated water point sources in the project area

  • Oversee and supervise the water technician and Water Engineer in system development/upgrading of boreholes and town water supply systems. Liaise closely with established District Water Boards and Authorities for good management, O&M and sustainability of the rehabilitated boreholes/water yards in the project area

  • Spearhead testing of water samples using portable laboratory and verify results with other reputable labs. Keep updated data base of each of the rehabilitated water points in the project area

  • Produce monthly, quarterly, annual reports, and other reporting requirements as requested by the project manager.


· A degree in Engineering field.

· At least 5 years’ experience with an NGO or UN agency in a related position.

· Computer literate with knowledge of Word processing and Excel spreadsheet

· Good written and spoken English and Somali

· Honest and dependable character
