Formal Education Network for Private Schools (FENPS) is seeking for Monitoring and Evaluation Officer. Formal Education Network for Private Schools (FENPS) (http://fenps.net/ ) is a non-profit organisation registered in Somalia.

FENPS supports community education through the renovation of schools and building new ones for the sake of assisting needy children from internally displaced people and impoverished families, and distributing education supplies and recreational materials to learners, creating income generation for low-income families and youth through training skills. FENPS vision is to develop Somalis through the active participation and belonging of its societal development. Their mission is to provide children, youth and adults with access to quality education, human rights protection and creating requirements of livelihood causes.

Since being established in 2003, FENPS implemented different humanitarian and development programmes. FENPS started to support existing private schools to give free education to the children from impoverished families, trained teachers in those schools and established free temporary learning schools for internally displaced children to improve quality and access to quality education in Somalia in order to ease burdens on the families in the sides of receiving education and essential services.

Job Description:

The Monitoring & Evaluation Officer (M &E) will be responsible for overall monitoring of the project with an emphasis on supporting FENPS to track and report on results indicators.

  • The officer will lead evidence building and knowledge management initiatives and provide support to the Program Manager in the evaluation of the project activities.
  • The monitoring and evaluation officers (M&Es) is responsible to monitor periodically the learning and teaching activities, distribution school equipment and education supplies, control uses of hygiene promotion supplies and check plan of activities developed.
  • The M&E have to maintain updating the number of students who go to 10 schools, take photographs on activities carried out and follow up report of the activities plan and information related with any irregularity and observations identified, specifying the sex and age of them per each school and collect daily attendance sheets of the teachers at the end of every month.
  • The M&Es are in charge to mentor teachers and head teachers at 10 schools and report monthly the progress and required changes to program manager.
  • The M&E Officer is responsible to monitor periodically the child protection activities, such recreational activities, and will mentor teachers and formed protection teams in 10 schools.
  • The M&E Officer has to maintain updating the number of students and take photographs on activities carried out and follow up report of the activities plan and information related with any irregularity and observations identified, specifying the sex and age of learners per each school and collect negative incidents such as gender based violence, abuses, school attach/occupation, etc. and positive support such as reunified families, referral cases provided to child victims
  • .Education/Qualification:
    Bachelor Degree in social Science
    Experience: At least 3 years
